April 28 saw Siobahn Magnus unceremoniously dumped from American Idol. Siobahn, Casey, and Mike were the bottom three on the American Idol voting results April 28 installment. There was no save for her, so the contestant from Marstons Mills, Massachusetts, (an alliterative place to come from) was sent packing. No save was left, so she received the boot.
And Siobahn Magnus has struck out
Siobahn Magnus has had some rocky performances, but had not yet been in the bottom three. That said, this one was a bit of a shocker. This year’s most original performer was Siobahn, far and away. It might have been expected she wouldn’t win, but it still wasn’t expected.
And then there were five
The five contestants remaining are Mike Lynche, Aaron Kelly, Lee DeWyze, Casey James and Crystal Bowersox. This year had earlier been predicted as a girls’ year by Randy Jackson, but the guys rallied. Mike Lynche has never been out of the bottom three. Casey James has been hanging around the bottom a bit since his rock’ n ‘roll shtick has been starting to wear thin. A little quick cash bet on Crystal Bowersox to win may be a safe bet at this point.
The viewer’s sound off
In all fairness, Siobahn had been slipping a bit. Her version of “Any Man of Mine†by Shania Twain seemed to be a step back in the right direction, but apparently viewers had had it. She had, to be fair, been getting a little too screechy. There was no denying her power several weeks ago, as she thoroughly blasted away nearly every other competitor with “Paint it Black†on Rolling Stones week, but past performances don’t matter — it’s the week to week that counts. The viewers said their piece, and the only performer approaching interesting on American Idol season 9 is going home.
